This very beautiful and particular yearly celebration is in honour of St. Luigi Gonzaga, Patron of the Casalino Quarter, and since the Middle Ages had involved adorning the main street of the city with “paintings” made with colourful and fragrant flower petals. The evening before the festival, the inhabitants of the Casalino quarter cover the pavement of via Pietro Vannucci with carpets of perfectly placed flower petals for all to admire until the following evening. The event is enlivened with music.
Festivities in honour of San Luigi Gonzaga, Patron Saint of the Terziere
21 June
San Luigi Church, at 7:30. “Holy Mass”.
Via Santa Maria Maddalena, at 17:30. Holy Mass followed by a procession along the streets of the neighborhood.
Taverna del Barbacane, at 20:30. 8th Edition of “the Flavour of Flowers”. Dinner based on flower essences. Terziere Casalino. Reservations required. Call +39 347 352 5685.
