The Touring Club and Environmental League’s Guida Blu, a guide to seaside resorts and lake destinations for vacations in environmentally friendly places, has once again awarded Castiglione del Lago, Magione, Passignano and Tuoro sul Trasimeno with the much vaunted 4-Sails rating in 2015.
The Orange Flag is a seal of environmental and tourism excellence awarded by the Italian Touring Club to smaller towns and villages which distinguish themselves for the quality of their hospitality. In the Trasimeno area, Città della Pieve and Panicale earned this high honour from among the many fascinating hamlets and villages that dot the region.
The Italian organisation known as the I Borghi più Belli d’Italia came about to raise awareness of the great historical, artistic, environmental and cultural heritage the small towns and hamlets of this country represent. In the Trasimeno area, Castiglione del Lago, Panicale and Paciano were admitted as members of this exclusive club, further proof of the liveability of this region. Corciano, also in this area, has just earned membership.
